Couple of Pictures From the Opening

I did some cool collage-style drawings on the wall based off of some digital art I did a while back. Unfortunately you can only see one of the cool ones, it's on the right side of the first picture. I am probably going to use that one for a shirt when I get to that point.

This Machine on Flickr! www.flickr.com/photos/cancrumotis

I posted the pieces on Flickr under the "This Machine..." album. I thought about posting them all here but they would take up a lot of room and not be organized very well. So to flickr it is! I hope you check them out, I will have a couple of photos from the show on here soon. Thanks to everyone who came!

This Machine was Built for a Preview

This is a pretty good amount of the pieces that will be in the show. A couple of the really large ones aren't in there along with a small one or two.

Portrait; Alexander

A Sense of Omission

"This Machine Wasn't Built for Stopping" is happening!

Finally got everything together and I am having my first solo show at DesotoRow in August! Here is a flyer and a couple of images that will be there along with the other collages I have posted in the last few months.

Always the martyr details

Here are the details of each individual frame. I figure that the parts should deserve the same attention as the whole.

Still getting everything together

What a headache. Trying to get this show together, but it sucks leaving deposits etc when you are trying to save for school. I have some good news that I can hopefully share in the next while, merch stuff. Very excited.

1's and 0's

Playing with some ideas. Most of the pieces for the 'This Machine Wasn't Built for Stopping" show are done, just a couple that I have to assemble or get some printouts, so now I am just expanding on the animal themes. I think I like where it's going.

Nothing goes as planned

Definitely different than the original digital layout, but that's what happens when you have to search for images in 1,000 pages of paper. Same idea, altered execution, finally finished. Of course, the ideas en route to this final product sparked another collage... I swear I think I am going to have at least 15 pieces in my show. Which is a good thing.

Storm's a brewin

I am hopefully going to be doing a show the first week of July at the Starland Gallery here in Savannah assuming I can get the money for the deposit for the show. My first show! I only have about 2-4 pieces to finish, kind of in limbo with a couple of them. I will also be getting pictures that aren't enormous online, just have to figure out this resolution situation. I would like to get everything on here, we'll see. More later.

Old Layout

This is an old layout I did for my old band's full-length. I was happy with it but it never really saw the light of day, thought I'd throw it up on here. It's pretty big because it was meant to fold out into a really long contiguous image.

A gathering of ideas

I have been invited to participate in Wednesday's Pecha Kucha Night here in Savannah. I will be presenting my collages and the story that flows through them. These events look like a lot of fun, I can't wait to get some reactions.

Always the martyr, never long before an update.

Closer to analogue...

My Name is Alexander... I am Far From Great.

So the main character takes the stage here. His name is Alexander and he is a very humble man.

The workstation

Where the magic happens...

Bulls of a Feather...

This one is complete; I hope to eventually get some really good photos but since this is just for an update we're all going to have to live with it.

Down, Down, Down

Almost finished with this one.

Got some business cards on the way.

Now all I need is a fancy little silver case and I will be all set.

Always the Martyr, Never the Saint

I think I am going to post all the steps for this collage from concept to execution. This is the first craft of the final collage in the series... it will make more sense when the frame is shown.

Harlot

Here is one of the original concepts for the Mother or Annabelle character, the story was still brewing when I did this so I didn't have specific plot lines yet. Once I post a couple of the other collages you will be able to see how I broke the idea up and split it into a couple different compositions for two differing characters.

Midas

Study for the Leech portrait. Brother of the main character. Photos of other stuff coming soon I hope!

Here's a study for the Mother character. I hope to have this analogue by next week, I will try and take some photos of the process.

Finally arrived on the internet

So I am now officially part of this "blogosphere," and I can't honestly say I am not excited. I will be posting my Cancrum.Otis collages here. These are going to be collages that are based on some sort of narrative presented in a series. Hope to have some images up soon with some titles. Later.
